Vityaz

The PP-19-01 Vityaz is a russian submachinegun designed in 2004. It is the 9x19 version of its larger sisters, the AK-74 and AKM.

The Vityaz comes in two variants currently in EFT.

  • PP-19-01 Vityaz
Base variant, featuring semi-automatic and automatic firemodes (700 RPM).

  • Saiga-9
A civilian variant of the vityaz. Features a longer barrel, different muzzle brake and is missing a dovetail mount. It comes equipped with a limited capacity 10-round magazine when found on scavs. It has no select-fire capability.

Note: The stats for both weapons (accuracy, velocity) are identical. This may indicate placeholder data, as the longer barrel on a Saiga-9 would suggest different muzzle velocity.

All modding parts are interchangeable between the Vityaz and Saiga-9.

Vityaz ammo

The 9x19 is a standard pistol and SMG caliber for various weapons in EFT. Its advantages are good damage due to the large bullet diameter and relatively low recoil impulse, which makes it suitable for firing from pistols with moderate recoil. However firing it from SMGs lowers the recoil as the larger weapon mass absorbs more of it. And its effective range and accuracy are extended. With its substantial 2.9kg weight, the Vityaz is a very stable weapon to shoot 9x19.

The ammo selection offers 6 different types. The PST and AP 6.3 are the armor-piercing solutions of the 9x19 selection and then the PSO and CCI offer gradual reduction in penetration in exchange for more damage. The RIP trades most of its armor penetration for damage.
The numbers 13 and 20 are significant for armor penetration. As these are the limits of that armor classes 2 and 3 can withstand. The CCI is slightly below a guaranteed penetration for class 2 armor. And the PST is below class 3 penetration. The AP 6.3 reaches beyond the 21 penetration required for class 3 armor.

Vityaz Shooting

She is a smooth shooter. For an SMG, the Vityaz has a relatively conservative weight of 2.9kg which gives the recoil substantial mass to wash up against. This makes the weapon stay rock-solid on semi-auto. And on full-auto, the low RPM of 700 (MP5: 800, MPX: 850) keeps it on target. It has a caliber weak enough and a fire-rate low enough combined with a high weight to make it a very controllable full auto weapon.

Vityaz Modding

Weapon-specific modding parts for the Vityaz are interchangeable with 5.45 and 7.62 AK systems, except for muzzle devices and magazines. For visual purposes alone, this allows for much creativity in customizing the weapon for a specific look. Functional modding is very similar in scope too, the Vityaz comes with a dovetail mount for soviet/russian optical devices and a rail cover for the receiver.

Various tactical purposes of the Vityaz:

  • All-Purpose Submachinegun
Compact, cheap, controllable full-auto makes it excel at any close to mid-range situations. However it will start losing out when trading shots with assault rifles.

  • Hipster Deluxe

  • Covert Ops
A covert setup on the Vityaz is relatively cheap, the suppressors for 9x19 sell for ~20k on the market, which is more affordable than rifle-sized suppressors. The long Zenit foregrip provides extra grip for full auto fire, and the 1P87 reflex sight offers a great sight picture, both for day and night combat.

  • Night Combat, Long Range
A night combat configuration for open-field combat. The NSPU-M scope features a 3.5x magnification and provides average night vision quality at a reasonable price.

  • Long Range
The 9x19 brings ballistic limitation for long range combat. The accuracy is reasonable considering the low ammo cost. Various devices can be used for optics. The dovetail mount allows for soviet/russian native devices, like the PSO scope. Western rail-mounted systems can be put on a railed dust cover or on the VOMZ dovetail rail mount.

A long-range 9x19 configuration will get the wrong end of the stick against full-sized rifles in a shooting match. However for sneaky operators with discipline and accuracy who want to save cash, there are situations that can be exploited with this ghetto sniping configuration.

Comparison to the AKS-74U

The avid EFT player and soviet weapon user might draw comparisons between the Vityaz and the AKS-74U. After all, it was the first scaled down, compact AK weapon system. So on the surface, these guns appear similar in doctrine and design. They both are compacted AK platform weapons. But this is where the similarities end.

Key differences between Vityaz and the AKS-74U

AKS-74U
  • Scaled down AK-74, 5.45x39 caliber.
  • Intended for military vehicle crews as a self-defense weapon.
  • 200mm barrel.
  • Hard recoil.

Vityaz

  • Derived from the PP-19 Bizon, which itself is a derivate of the AK-platform. 9x19 caliber.
  • Used by police and special forces.
  • 237.5mm barrel.
  • Soft recoil.

The AKS-74U is a weapon of war. The Vityaz is a weapon used by police forces, in civilian areas, where overpenetration and unintended damage is a concern. Naturally the AKS-74U carries greater potential for penetration, the Vityaz trades that for an easier to shoot weapon system with weaker ammo.

Both weapons have great tactical potential in close combat because of their compact dimensions, the AKS-74U retains the power of an assault rifle for combat at a distance.

Vityaz Summary

As an AK weapon system scaled down to 9x19, it comes will all the tactical uses one would expect from it. Easy to shoot, compact, as moddable as an AK. On close range, the very controllable full auto fire gives it an edge. On medium range it offers accurate 9x19 delivery. The tactical limitations lie within long distance shooting and against targets with class 4 armor.

The low ammo cost and high parts commonality with most AK-systems allow the operator to save cost by keeping a smaller stash of modding parts.

The Vityaz is a great weapon for new players. It does not have an extreme fire-rate, the ammo selection is small, cheap, and reasonably powerful. It is very easy to shoot in base configuration.

Accuracy 9/10
With an accuracy of 0.1 the Vityaz is the most accurate 9x19 SMG in the game.

Recoil 8/10
Almost three kilos of mass make for very smooth shooting experience. Even full auto remains controllable because of relatively low 700 RPM.

Ammo 3/10
9x19 offers good damage and limited penetration. Mild recoil in full-sized SMGs.

Weapon-specific Modding 8/10
All parts are interchangeable with other AK systems, except for parts that attach to the barrel or magazine well.

General Modding 7/10
Can fit most AK-platform rail systems.
