MPX

The MPX is an SMG manufactured by Sig-Sauer and produced since 2013. It combines the ergonomics and controls layout of an AR-15 with a 9x19 caliber SMG. As such, it can fit many parts that fit on an AR-15. At first it might look like an MP5 that got drunk and put on a cheap M4 costume, but closer looks will reveal it is more M4 than MP5.

The MPX SD

The weapon is offered as two different variants in the Peacekeeper shop, however these are just renamed versions of the same base weapon in EFT. The MPX and MPX SD share the same lower receiver ("base weapon") and are therefore not two different weapons, like the AK-74 and the AK-74N, but the same weapon with a modified barrel. This is why the MPX will not be listed as a variant in this post.

MPX Base Configuration

The conversion kit

Players can create their own MPX SD by swapping out the barrel and attaching a special suppressor to it. It requires a 165mm MPXSD barrel and an MPX-SD barrel. Each of the two parts are necessary for the weapon to function. And the suppressor will not fit on any other configuration without this barrel.

MPX ironsights

The 0.11 update added the possibility to mix and match various picatinny rail ironsights on the MPX. This means both the front and rear sights from different manufacturers can be mounted.

Shooting the MPX

Its mass allows it to absorb the recoil of the 9x19 caliber which makes for easy and controllable shooting in semi-auto and fully automatic fire.
The full-auto fire mode offers 850 RPM with reasonable control. This gives it a clear advantage in close combat situations over AK weapon systems with RPM of 600-750. Plus the fire selector switch is easier to reach and less noisy than on an AK weapon system. The MPX fire selector switch can be operated much faster and the higher RPM shoots 2-3 more bullets at the target per second.

MPX ammo

The 9x19 is a standard pistol and SMG caliber for various weapons in EFT. Its advantages are good damage due to the large bullet diameter and relatively low recoil impulse, which makes it suitable for firing from pistols with moderate recoil. However firing it from SMGs lowers the recoil as the larger weapon mass absorbs more of it. And its effective range and accuracy are extended

MPX modding

The MPX can fit all optical devices, handguard attachments, pistol grips that would fit on an M4A1. With an adapter, the MPX can fit stocks that use an M4 buffer tube. This modding capability is included out of the box as the weapon comes with the necessary picatinny rails equipped.

Barrels

The MPX offers a large selection of barrels and handguards to adapt the weapon system.

MPX summary

The MPX is the heaviest and easiest to shoot 9x19 weapon system in EFT. The ballistic potential is ideal against targets with cheap armor and its controllable and very low recoil allows accurate aimed fire at up to 200 meters. The modding options are vast and a wide selection of scopes allow it to extend the accurate range. It can be seen as an M4 for the 9x19 round.

Its disadvantages are the ballistic disadvantage at long range combat, because the bullet's low velocity requires an expert shooter and a good scope to project accurate fire beyond 200 meters. Natural enemies of a shooter with an MPX are harder hitting weapons like assault rifles. Class 4 armor is virtually impervious to it.

Unless the shooter loads 7N31.

(all ratings based on base configuration with 203mm barrel)

Accuracy 8/10
The second-most accurate SMG (0.146).

Recoil 8/10
Very low vertical recoil makes the MPX the easiest to shoot 9x19 weapon. Also the lowest recoilling SMG overall.

Ammo 4/10
9x19 offers good damage and limited penetration. Mild recoil in full-sized SMGs. The new AP 6.3 and 7N31 ammo extends the armor-piercing capabilities.

Weapon-specific Modding 10/10
6 different barrel lengths and various handguards. 3 magazines and an integral suppressor configuration.

General Modding 9/10
Comes with picatinny rails on the upper receiver and can fit almost anything that requires a rail. Also fits most AR-15 ironsights, stocks and pistol grips.
